cultural shock
06.04.04 (4:31 pm)   [edit]
Everyday someone is inviting me out to lunch or dinner, I usually go and when it comes time to pay the check they will not let me do it . The custom is apparently imprinted upon the population and cannot be changed. Everytime that I visit an office I am brought a cup of tea or hot water, the tea I like but do not understand the water. The women are all basically traditional women, which means a traditional American relationship is just about forbidden. Find it strange but in another way quite enjoyable.....China is a social and cultural change that is a little difficult to adapt when one comes from a freewheeling place like the United States. Somehow through a little help from my friends I have managed to obtain my resident visa and work permit, the lady in immigration said "in record time", whatever that signifies, I am more relaxed and beginning my book on work in Central America, have a name for it "Living at the edge of Infinity", spook work in Banana land, almost thirty years of insanity, will post exerts here from time to time.

it's presently 4:45am here in China, I must be absolutely crazy or still suffering from jet lag, been up all night lost and alone, suppose there are worse things in the world...... 8)
